Missing Elementary School Teacher in Virginia Found Safe

STAUNTON, Va. (CBSDC/AP) — A Rockingham County elementary school teacher who was reported missing has been found.

Augusta County Sheriff Randy Fisher tells WSVA Radio that 53-year-old Cheryl Burns returned to her home in Fisherville on Tuesday morning.

Fisher says deputies are interviewing Burns.

No details have been released.

Burns was last seen leaving her home at 6:45 a.m. Monday driving an orange Subaru Impreza. She didn’t show up for work at Cub Run Elementary School in Penn Laird.

Rockingham County school officials say Burns teaches fourth grade at Cub Run.
