FAIRFAX, Va. — Virginia State Police say a 15-year-old boy ran a red light and hit a car, fatally injuring his passenger.
It happened about 12:45 a.m. Saturday just outside Fairfax on Route 236. Authorities say a trooper saw a Honda Accord speeding and driving erratically and activated his cruiser’s emergency lights to stop the car.

Police say the youth fled on foot but was caught. A passenger in the youth’s car was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the other car, Yassin Fereva of Fairfax, was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not considered to be life-threatening.
