WASHINGTON (CBSDC/AP) — The Washington Nationals are offering free tickets to Navy Yard personnel and their families for Saturday’s game.
The team’s stadium is blocks from the Navy Yard in southeast Washington where a gunman killed 12 people Monday before being fatally shot in a gun battle with law enforcement. The Nationals cancelled their game Monday after the shooting and a stadium parking lot was used as a place to reunite employees from the Navy Yard with their loved ones.
The Nationals are offering up to four complimentary tickets to Navy Yard personnel with a valid ID. The tickets must be picked up in advance Friday at the Nationals’ box office from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Tickets will be available while supplies last. The team is playing the Miami Marlins on Saturday.
The Nationals are also auctioning off game-worn, autographed jerseys from Tuesday’s game against the Braves. All proceeds from the auction will go directly to the families of the victims of the Navy Yard shooting.
