Lanham, Md. (CBSDC) — Magruder High School in Rockville was evacuated shortly after 2 p.m. due to reports of a strong odor on the second floor of the building, officials say.

An investigation revealed a blocked sewer trap caused the smell of gas, according to Washington Gas. A natural gas investigation did not find any hazardous substances on the campus.

Seven students and two teachers were transported to a local hospital for evaluation, according to Montgomery County Fire.

Montgomery County Fire also responded to the campus around 6:30 a.m. for reports of a gas odor inside the school. Officials say crews did not find any hazardous materials at the scene, and students and staff were allowed to reenter the building.
