Va. Woman Leaves About $800k to Library System

ARLINGTON, Va. — A retired federal government attorney who died earlier this year left nearly $800,000 to public libraries in Arlington, a gift county officials believe is the largest single gift they have received.

The Washington Post reports Rosemarie G. Bowie was a frequent user of the county’s Central Library. The former lawyer for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office died June 24 at the age of 76.

Her will instructs that the proceeds from the sale of her north Arlington home and half of her remaining estate be given to the library system.
