U.S News Releases 2014 Best College Rankings

LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — The annual list of America’s best colleges and universities was released Tuesday by U.S. News.
The publication’s National University Rankings for 2014 had four Ivy League schools in the top five. Princeton University took the No. 1 ranking, followed by fellow Ivy League institutions Harvard University (No. 2), Yale University (No. 3) and Columbia University (No. 4). Stanford University and the University of Chicago tied for the fifth spot.
Duke University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and the University of Pennsylvania tied at No. 7. The California Institute of Technology and Dartmouth College tied to round out the top 10.
Locally in the D.C. metro area, Georgetown University is the top-ranked school at No. 20. George Washington University comes in at No. 52, the University of Maryland, College Park ranks at No. 62, and American University ranks at No. 75.
The Catholic University of America ranks at No. 121, George Mason University at No. 141, and Howard University at No. 142.

U.S. News says it surveys colleges and universities each year and ranks nearly 1,400 of them in different categories to compile its rankings.
