LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — Ben’s Chili Bowl, the famous U Street restaurant, is opening a new location across the Potomac River in Virginia.
The restaurant, which celebrated its 50th anniversary last month, will move into the old home of Ray’s Hellburger in Rosslyn, according to the Washington Business Journal.
Co-owner Nizam Ben Ali told the WBJ that Ben’s first Virginia location will be at 1725 Wilson Blvd., and is scheduled to open in early 2014. Ben’s also is planning to open a second store in the District on H Street that is scheduled to open in either spring or summer 2014, Ali said.
Ali told the WBJ that Ben’s had been interested in opening a location in the Clarendon area, but plans there had stalled.
