WASHINGTON (CBSDC) - Children experienced the joy of running through the same large, inflatable helmet they’ll see their favorite Redskins players storm through Monday night against the Eagles, at the launch of the Play 60 Fun Run, which took place at FedEx Field on Saturday.

Roughly three dozen kids were on hand for the half mile run, which began under the helmet, and ended on the stadium’s concourse level around 9 a.m.

The children’s race was the follow-up to the “Redskins Back to Football 5K Run” geared more for parents, which began at the stadium around 7:30 a.m., wrapped around parts of the stadium parking lot, before ending at the Bud Light Party Pavilion on the concourse five kilometers later.

While they may not have ran the same distances, both parents and children came away with a t-shirt and a smile, while celebrating the start of the 2013 NFL regular season, under the shade of their home team’s stadium – where Redskins’ quarterback Robert Griffin III will make his much-anticipated return in just two days.
