LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — A woman suffered significant injuries when she was struck by her own car in Ashburn on Friday morning, authorities say.

The accident occurred shortly before 6 a.m. in the 43900 block of Needmore Court, Loudoun County Fire spokesperson Laura Rynheart said.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office said the woman was exiting her car when she was hit by the driver’s side door and fell. The car rolled over her, causing injuries to her head and chest, authorities said. Police said she had not put the car in park.

The woman was airlifted to Fairfax Hospital with serious injuries but she is expected to be OK.
