Officer Injured When Police Cruiser Crashes into Tree

LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — A Montgomery County police officer was injured in a single-vehicle crash in Montgomery Village on Thursday morning.

Police said the accident happened just before 10 a.m. at Montgomery Village Avenue and Stedwick Road. Officials told Channel 9 that the officer was in a marked police cruiser responding to a domestic violence call when another vehicle possibly failed to yield to the officer, causing the cruiser to hit a tree in the median.

The officer, a four-year veteran with the county police department, was conscious and responsive when she was transported to the hospital, police said.

No one else was injured in the crash.
