WASHINGTON (CBSDC) – Holidays are what you make of them, and for JP, that meant waking up early and heading to the Fox 5 studios to talk some fantasy football and promote the show … and talk and talk and talk.
JP’s actually the perfect in-studio guest for local TV stations, because he’s capable of talking endlessly without a prompter if they need to fill time.
The hosts of the show on this occasion were Allison Seymour, Sarah Simmons, and Wisdom Martin, and the segment’s sterling moment came when Seymour had a question about Tim Tebow, presumably her favorite player.
“I was going to ask … if you have a favorite who was recently cut for no really good reason at quarterback, can I pick up somebody who’s been cut, like from the league?” Allison asked JP.
“Well, you certainly can,” JP answered. “But they’re not going to be playing, which means…”
“I can’t pick up Tebow?” she inquired further.
“No, why would you do that?!” Wisdom laughed.
To be fair to Allison, she only asked the question when Wisdom insisted on her doing so, after she had initially offered, then pulled it back.
“But he’s not going to get you any points,” JP finished his previous sentence, trained in the art of talking over people. “The way you win in fantasy football is you need to get points. So you want somebody who’s going to get touchdowns and yards, and Tim Tebow’s probably not going get many touchdowns if he’s not on a team.”
“Throw sentimental value out of the window,” Seymour resigned herself.
“Can you join the 106.7 The Fan league?!” JP zinged.
“He’s making fun of you,” Simmons pointed out.
“I know, but he smells really good, Sarah,” Seymour got cised a little.
“Oh wait! Hold on!” Martin jumped in, reasserting his territory.
Good ole’ JP.
