LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — Officials opened a newly redesigned playground in southwest D.C. Friday morning.
The Fort Greble playground’s design is inspired by local Civil War history. The playground is also part of D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray’s Sustainable D.C. initiative.
The park includes a green roof pavilion, an extensive storm water management system for a new community garden, an artificial turf, a splash pad, outdoor classrooms, picnic tables, barbecue grills, new basketball courts and bleachers, according to the Mayor’s office.
