Pa. Man Charged with Carjacking Ocean City Cab

OCEAN CITY, Md. — Ocean City Police have arrested a Pennsylvania man they say hijacked a cab driver at knifepoint.

Officers say about 6:15 p.m. Saturday, a cabbie picked up a man on 49th Street. Police say the man grabbed the driver by the throat, brandished a knife and threatened him.

The driver was able to stop the taxi on 91st Street and get out. Police say the carjacker drove the car on Coastal Highway. Police say an off-duty officer from the Clarkstown, N.Y., police department, saw the driver leave the taxi, let him get into his car, and followed the taxi.

Police say the suspect stopped the taxi and ran to the beach. Officers pulled him from the water.

Thirty-six-year-old Ian Edward Keim of Neville, Pa. has been charged with robbery and carjacking.
