Death of McLean High School Student Investigated as Criminal

Criminal Investigation Into Death of 16-Year-Old Girl

VIENNA, Va. (CBSDC) — Police are conducting a criminal investigation into the death of a 16-year-old female McLean High School student whose body was discovered in an affluent neighborhood near Tysons Corner last week.

The body of Emylee Lonczak was found in shrubbery between two homes on Madrillon Estates Drive in Vienna Friday morning. The neighborhood, where residences sell for upwards of $1 million, is largely void of crime.

Fairfax County Police are not releasing many details surrounding the death, but say they do not believe anyone else is in danger. The results of an autopsy conducted on Lonczak are pending.

McLean High School principal Ellen Reilly sent a letter to parents regarding the death, describing the girl who was to be a junior this year as a cherished student.

The first day of school for students in Fairfax County is Sept. 3.

Lonczak was reported missing by her family last week after running away from home.

WNEW’s Kevin Patrick contributed to this report.
