LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — The Washington Redskins have one of the most passionate fan bases in the NFL, but the team’s fans lack loyalty, according to a new study.
Redskins fans were ranked as the 13th-most loyal and supportive out of all NFL teams, based on a study by Emory University’s Goizueta Business School.
The Dallas Cowboys rank No. 1 on the list, while the Baltimore Ravens came in at No. 8. The New York Giants rank 5th while the Philadelphia Eagles came in at 17th.
The study, which was conducted by a Redskins fan and a Steelers fan, used several factors in its rankings, such as team revenues relative to team on-field success, median income, stadium capacity, and market population.
“Over the last three seasons (the time period used to calculate fan equity) the Cowboys have played sub .500 football but generated above capacity attendance (at least according to ESPN),” the study says.
The NFL’s least loyal fan bases are the Arizona Cardinals, Atlanta Falcons and Oakland Raiders, according to the study.
