WASHINGTON (CBSDC) - The NFL regular season hasn’t yet begun, and already national media outlets have expressed their continued obsession with Robert Griffin III.
The latest offering comes from GQ Magazine, the cover of which RGIII will grace in September, and the cover story’s author, Brendan Vaughn, released some outtakes in advance of its release.
While these little factoids likely didn’t make final cut because they weren’t relatable to a national audience, Redskins fans with a bloodthirst for fresh RGIII content will undoubtedly eat them up.
Griffin was asked, for instance, to name his best friend on the Redskins roster.
“I’m trying to think. I’m a natural loner,” Griffin told Vaughn. “I can hang out with everybody, but I don’t have a best friend. Let me think. Oh. Probably [cornerback] Richard Crawford.”
Did anybody see that coming? Seriously. Anybody?
Crawford has been a standout in training camp, with teammates often pointing to him as the guy who’s been most impressive, but who would have guessed that admiration crossed battlefield lines to offensive leader RGIII?
Griffin was also asked to give his thoughts on the possibility of a gay player coming out in the NFL.
He responded accordingly.
“Yeah, man. I think there are [gay players] right now, and if they’re looking for a window to just come out, I mean, now is the window,” Griffin said. “My view on it is, yes, I am a Christian, but to each his own. You do what you want to do. If some Christians want to look at being gay as a sin, then thinking about other women, committing adultery—or any of those other sins that are in the Bible—those are sins, too. And God looks at all of us the same way.”
And RGIII named the “scariest” defensive player in the league, and it’s a division rival. You can view his answer here.
