Woman Rescued After Car Rolls Over in Beltway Embankment

LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — A woman has been transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries after her car plunged off a Capital Beltway off-ramp, overturned and landed in the creek bed below.

The accident, which occurred on the beltway outerloop ramp to I-95 north, shut down all but one lane of the roadway. Motorists are still experiencing delays.

A Prince George’s County fire department spokesman said the woman and her vehicle fell between 20 and 30 feet off the ramp. A rescue team had to use a stretcher to remove her from the embankment. Crews are still working to extricate her car.
