Police Standoff in Waldorf Ends; One Person Shot

LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC/AP) — Charles County Sheriff’s Office says one person was shot as deputies exchanged gunfire with a person at a Waldorf home where they were serving an arrest warrant.
Officials say a barricade was set up at the home near St. Charles Towne Center on Friday morning after the shooting and other homes in the neighborhood were evacuated. The situation was resolved around 9:15 a.m.
The gunman was shot multiple times by authorities according to reports. Emergency crews flew the man to an area hospital.
The man was suspected of committing mail fraud and being investigated by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service according to WJLA-TV.
The television station reports the man was shot after walking out of his home with an automatic rifle and began firing.
