Man Arrested After Police Roofing Shingles Sting

PASADENA, Md. — Anne Arundel County police have arrested a man they say tried to make money with roofing shingles he fraudulently obtained and selling them on

Officers say a man placed an order for building materials from a supply firm in the name of a company in the county without the company’s knowledge. The company was notified.

Detectives say the roofing materials were advertised on and an officer posed as a buyer for the items. Police say the suspect agreed to sell the shingles for $3,800.

On July 26, authorities say the items were delivered. Police say the suspect met with the undercover officer and received money for the goods. He was immediately arrested.

Forty-nine-year-old Lloyd K. Butts of Orchard Beach has been charged with felony theft and identity fraud.
