Report: U.S. Consulate in Milan Evacuated Due to Bomb Threat

LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — The United States consulate in Milan, Italy was evacuated Tuesday after officials reportedly received a bomb threat.

Authorities are investigating a letter sent to the consulate that referred to an explosive, according to the Italian news agency ANSA.

The reported incident comes amidst the evacuation of the U.S. Embassy in Yemen due to the continued threat of violence by al-Qaida. All-non essential staff and U.S. citizens have been ordered to leave the country “immediately” by the State Department.
