ELLICOTT CITY, Md. (CBSDC/AP) — Authorities say a swimmer who disappeared near a dam at Patapsco River State Park has been found dead.

Natural Resources Police say 33-year-old Arturo Acosta-Acero of Elkridge went missing near the Bloede dam on Sunday evening.

Police say he was swimming with friends when he went to shore to put on his flip flops and was last seen walking between the two rocks at the base of the dam.

Divers found his body Monday afternoon.

The Department of Natural Resources, which owns the dam, calls it a public safety concern because of deaths at or near the dam and has decided to remove it.
