Ex-Redskins Receiver Devin Thomas Released by Lions

ALLEN PARK, Mich. (CBSDC/AP) — Former Washington Redskins wide receiver Devin Thomas has been released by the Detroit Lions.

The team announced the moves Monday.

Thomas joined the Lions in January as a free agent after announcing his retirement prior to last season. A second-round draft pick by the Washington Redskins out of Michigan State in 2008, Thomas has played in 55 career games with the Redskins, New York Giants and Carolina Panthers.

The Lions also announced the release of linebacker Alex Elkins and the addition of defensive back Brandon King.

King spent the 2010 and 2011 seasons with the Indianapolis Colts, appearing in eight games.
