Swimmer Goes Missing at Md. Dam

ELLICOTT CITY, Md. (CBSDC/AP) — Police have found the body of a man matching the description of a swimmer that went missing Sunday afternoon.

Authorities say a swimmer disappeared over a dam spillway at Patapsco River State Park.

The man, identified as 33-year-old Arturo Acosta-Alero, was last seen in the water near the Bloede dam on Sunday evening, when witnesses say he went over the spillway. Crews from Natural Resources Police and the Howard County Fire Department looked for the Acosta-Alero, but called off the search overnight. The search resumed Monday morning.

The Department of Natural Resources, which owns the dam, calls it a public safety concern because of deaths at or near the dam and has decided to remove it.
