1 Injured in Shooting During Germantown Home Invasion

GERMANTOWN, Md. (CBSDC) — A man was shot multiple times during a home invasion in Germantown early Monday morning, police say.

Montgomery County police say multiple people burst through a back door of a home at the corner of Onax Drive and Black Rock Road in Germantown around 1:30 a.m. A 22-year-old male was shot multiple times during the invasion.

Police say they don’t know if the man who was shot was one of the intruders or was already inside the home. He was transported to a local hospital where he underwent surgery, police say.

Police questioned people at the scene and used K-9 units and a police helicopter to search the surrounding area, but no arrests have been made.

Police don’t believe the invasion was random.

Paul Smith, who lives across the street, said the home had a high number of visitors despite the neighborhood being pretty quiet.

“People would stop by, get out and then get back in the car,” Smith said.

Police are continuing to investigate the shooting.
