LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — Changes in Metro service will affect three of five lines from 10 p.m. Friday, August 2, through closing on Sunday, August 4, as part of an ongoing rebuilding effort.

Metro will operate as follows on the Red, Orange and Blue lines:

Red Line

  • Between Shady Grove & Glenmont: Trains every 20 minutes throughout the weekend.
  • Additional trains between Shady Grove & Farragut North: Service every 10 minutes 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.
  • Additional trains between Glenmont & Judiciary Square: Service every 10 minutes 9 a.m. – 9 p.m.
  • If connecting between the western side of the Red Line and the Blue/Orange lines, consider trying Farragut Crossing. When using a SmarTrip card, you can transfer for free by walking between Farragut North and Farragut West stations.
  • If connecting between the eastern side of the Red Line and the Green or Yellow lines, consider making the transfer at Fort Totten, rather than Gallery Place.
  • If traveling to Verizon Center from the eastern side of the Red Line, use Judiciary Square rather than Gallery Place.
  • Metrobus service may provide an alternate travel option for some riders, especially those along Wisconsin or Connecticut avenues. To check, plan your trip using Trip Planner and select the “bus only” option.
