BALTIMORE (CBSDC/AP) — The family of Cal Ripken Jr. is offering a $100,000 reward to help find the person who kidnapped the former Orioles star’s mother in July 2012
The Hall of Fame infielder made the announcement Thursday at the Sports Legends Museum next to Oriole Park at Camden Yards. He says he hopes the reward will help re-energize the case.
More than a year after Vi Ripken was taken at gunpoint from her Aberdeen home and then returned unharmed a day later, police say the identity of the suspect and his motive remain a mystery.
Authorities described the suspect as a white male, roughly 5-foot-10 and 180 pounds with short brown hair and glasses.
