WASHINGTON — A District of Columbia man has been sentenced to 52 years in prison for his role in the kidnapping and killing of a teenage girl whose body is now believed to be in a Virginia landfill.
Johnnie Sweet was sentenced in D.C. Superior Court on Thursday for first-degree felony murder and other charges.
He was convicted in April for his role in the 2010 death of Latisha Frazier, who prosecutors say was murdered by a group of people because she was falsely believed to have stolen money from Sweet.
Prosecutors believe Frazier’s body was dumped into a large trash bin that was emptied into a landfill in Virginia. Her body has never been recovered.
Six other people have already pleaded guilty. Three are awaiting sentencing.
