Md. Man Accused of Shooting, Killing Girlfriend’s Dog

LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — A Maryland man has been arrested after he allegedly shot and killed his girlfriend’s dog, police say.

Anne Arundel County police say a woman called 911 just before 9:30 p.m. Saturday and said her boyfriend had just shot her dog. When officers arrived at the home in the 700 block of 224th Street in Pasadena, they found the mixed-breed dog dead in the kitchen from an apparent gunshot wound.

Police say the woman’s boyfriend, 33-year-old Clint Matthew Mowry, became angry with the dog after it “nipped” at him. They say the woman tried to leave the house with the dog, but Mowry instead chased the dog into the kitchen and shot and killed it.

The woman had recently adopted the dog, police say.

Mowry was taken into custody and has been charged with animal cruelty and reckless endangerment.
