WASHINGTON — Police responded after two dogs apparently attacked several people at the Hechinger Mall in northeast Washington.

Police say the attack happened Saturday morning at the mall near 16th Street NE and Benning Road. Police say they shot at the two dogs to try to stop them.

A police spokesman says the dogs are alive and were taken by animal control.

An adult man who was bitten in the face by one of the dogs was taken to the hospital. His injuries are not life threatening.
