LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — A tractor-trailer was struck by a train while stopped on the tracks along U.S. 29 in Gainesville on Friday, Prince William County police says.
The collision occurred around 7 p.m., bringing traffic to a standstill in both directions near Linton Hall Road, at the height of evening rush.
Police say no one was injured in the crash.
This is the fifth time since late 2011 that a train has struck a vehicle on the tracks in the same location, according to Inside Nova.
According to the same report, the last incident occurred when another tractor-trailer was struck while stopped on the tracks in Gainesville.
The railroad crossings will be eliminated when construction of two new overpasses is complete in 2015, Inside Nova says.
