LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — Adam Kokesh, the outspoken gun activist who was arrested earlier this month at his Fairfax County home on drug and firearm charges, is being transferred to D.C. to be charged in the incident.
According to court documents, Kokesh is expected to be in D.C. Superior Court on Friday. Kokesh faces felony gun charges stemming from a video he posted on YouTube on July 4 that showed him loading a shotgun on Freedom Plaza.
Carrying a loaded firearm in the District is punishable by up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
Kokesh, a 31-year-old former Marine, was arrested July 9 after police raided his Herndon home and found illegal drugs. He was held at the Fairfax County Detention Center and arraigned in Fairfax County Circuit Court before being granted $5,000 bond.
