One Year Later, Vi Ripken’s Kidnapping Still A Mystery
LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC/AP) – One year after a Baltimore baseball icon’s mother was kidnapped and then returned to her home unharmed a day later, police say the identity of the suspect and his motive remain a mystery.
Vi Ripken, the 74-year-old mother of Baltimore Orioles legend Cal Ripken, was taken from her Aberdeen, Md. home on July 24, 2012. The suspect abducted Ripken in her own 1998 Silver Lincoln Town car, driving through Harford and Baltimore County before returning her to her house on July 25.
Ripken told police the suspect had a gun and blindfolded her.
