Water Main Break Leaves Customers Without Water in College Park

GREENBELT, Md. (CBSDC) – More mains. Less water.

Less than 24 hours removed from a water main problem that left over 200,000 residents without power, Prince George’s County has another water main break on its hands, this time in College Park.

Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission says the break occurred in a 24-inch water main at the Beltway Plaza Mall in the 500 block of Branchville Road around 6 a.m. on Saturday.

As many as 20 customers were without water Saturday afternoon, not excluding some businesses in the area.

The main has been shut down and could take anywhere from 12 to 16 hours to repair. Customers in the area currently without water should expect to have it returned sometime Sunday afternoon.
