Pedestrian Dies After Being Struck By Police Cruiser
LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — A Virginia woman who police say was drunk and walking in the road when she was struck by a police cruiser over the weekend has died, police say.
Isabella Majano, 25, of Woodbridge was allegedly drunk and walking in traffic near Jefferson Davis Highway and Crest Drive in Woodbridge at about 4:30 a.m. Saturday when she was struck by a car driven by a Prince William County police officer.
The officer, who was driving north in the left lane of Jefferson Davis Highway, was responding to a report of an intoxicated woman walking on the road in the area.
Majano was transported to a hospital and was pronounced dead Monday morning, according to police.
An investigation shows Majano was under the influence of alcohol and was not in a designated crosswalk when she was hit, police say.
No other injuries were reported and speed was not a factor, according to police.
