The 2013 Home Run Derby takes place on July 15 at 8 p.m. and features 8 hitters vying to become this year’s long ball king.
Derby history favors left-handed hitters, which is good news for Bryce Harper of the Washington Nationals who is trying to become the first player in franchise history to win the competition.
Harper hit 13 home runs in 201 plate appearances during his injury-shortened first half of the season. The 20-year-old will also have his father, Ron Harper, throwing to him in New York.
On the American League side, Prince Fielder seeks to win the Home Run Derby for a third time while fending off Baltimore Orioles slugger Chris Davis who leads the majors in home runs with 37.
