ARLINGTON, Va. — The Arlington County Board has approved construction of what would become the largest residential and retail high-rise in Pentagon City.
The mixed-use development will include a 22-story building with nearly 700 residential units and more than 40,000 feet of retail space. Most of that space will be dedicated to a full-service grocery store on the ground floor.
Arlington County Board Chairman J. Walter Tejada calls the approval “an important milestone” because it will help transform an industrial section of Pentagon City “to a more walkable, transit-oriented area.” The board gave final approval to the project on Saturday.
The project will be built on the site of a warehouse that’s within walking distance of the Pentagon City and Crystal City Metro stations.
