‘The Book of Mormon’ Arrives at Kennedy Center

WASHINGTON — “The Book of Mormon” is opening at the Kennedy Center, and theater officials say some tickets are still available.

The production is the creation of Trey Parker, Robert Lopez and Matt Stone. Parker and Stone are the writers behind “South Park,” and Lopez is co-creator of the hit musical comedy “Avenue Q.”

“The Book of Mormon” won nine Tony Awards and began its first national tour last August. It offers an offensive but funny look at two missionaries in Uganda.

The show opens Thursday and runs through Aug. 18.

The Kennedy Center says some seats are still available. The center is also offering $25 standing room tickets that can be purchased in person for the day’s performance starting at 10 a.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays or at noon on Sundays.
