WASHINGTON — The District of Columbia Department of Public Works says trash and recycling crews are beginning their collections an hour earlier because of predicted high temperatures.
Crews will begin collections at 6 a.m. Wednesday instead of 7 a.m. That’s because temperatures are predicted to reach 90 degrees.
Officials say the earlier collections will happen throughout the summer when the temperature and heat index are predicted to be 90 or higher. Earlier trash pickup will also take place when officials announce unhealthy air quality.
