Caps Re-Sign Karl Alzner to 4-Year Deal/$2.8M per

WASHINGTON (CBSDC) – The Capitals announced Thursday they’ve re-signed defenseman Karl Alzner to a four-year deal, worth $2.8 million per year through the 2016-17 NHL season.

“We are very pleased to sign Karl Alzner to a contract extension,” GM George McPhee said in a statement. “Karl is just entering his prime and has been a model of consistency for our organization since he entered the league.”

“He plays tough and valuable minutes against some of the NHL’s top players every game,” he continued.

The Capitals have made a slew of roster moves and non-moves this offseason, losing Mike Rebeiro to Phoenix, and Matt Hendricks to Nashville, a departure which was a lot more emotional for the latter.
