Man Dies of Injuries Suffered in July 1 Crash

PASADENA, Md. — Anne Arundel County police say a man injured in a two-vehicle crash has died.

Officers say 87-year-old John Gilbert Szuba Sr. of Pasadena died Sunday at Shock Trauma in Baltimore, where he was taken after the July 1 crash.

Police say the accident happened about 5:35 p.m. on Fort Smallwood Road. Authorities say a car driven by 43-year-old Kimberly Jo Blackwell of Pasadena pulled to the shoulder, then made an abrupt left turn in an attempt to make a U-turn.

Officers say Blackwell’s car struck the side of a pickup truck driven by 53-year-old Patricia Joanne Cowan of Pasadena. Szuba was a passenger in Cowan’s truck.

Officials say the truck spun around and overturned.

Blackwell and Cowan were taken to a hospital with minor injuries.

The accident is under investigation.
