Funerals Set For Ocean City Police Officers Killed in Plane Crash
OCEAN CITY, Md. (CBSDC/AP) — Funerals and viewings for both Ocean City police officers killed in a plane crash June 30 have been set for this week.
The small plane crashed into the ocean after taking off from the Ocean City Municipal Airport. Witnesses told police the aircraft spun out of control before crashing.
Killed were 27-year-old Joshua D. Adickes and 43-year-old Thomas J. Geoghegan Jr., who were both off duty at the time.
Services for Geoghegan will include visitation at the John B. Taylor Funeral Home, 147 Duke of Gloucester Street, Annapolis, from 2 to 4 p.m. and again from 6 to 8 p.m. July 11. On July 13, a viewing will be held at the Ocean Pine Community Church located at 11227 Race Track Road in Ocean Pines, MD, from 4 to 6 p.m. A funeral service will be held immediately after.
A viewing for Adickes will be held today in Hackettstown, New Jersey. A funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Highlands Presbyterian Church, 3 Heath Lane, Schooleys Mountain, New Jersey.
The officers’ bodies were recovered July 1, but rough waters and zero visibility forced a delay in the plane’s recovery until later that week.
