Small Bear Struck on Md. Highway, Put Down

LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — A bear was seriously injured and had to be put down after it was struck by a car on southbound I-270 in Germantown Sunday morning.

Police say they received a report about the bear shortly after 9 a.m. The bear had fled the scene before officers arrived but units located it in a wooded area near where it was struck.

No motorists were injured in the collision.

Department of Natural Resources Police will be in charge of the remains.
