Truck Gets Stuck In DC, Leaks Fuel Into Stream
WASHINGTON (AP) — Police say a moving truck that was attempting to make a U-turn near the District of Columbia’s Chain Bridge got stuck and began leaking diesel from a broken fuel tank.
The truck was blocking Chain Bridge on Canal Road in northwest Washington for several hours on Saturday. Authorities say the leaking diesel began draining into a storm train that flows into the nearby canal.
Road crews used an absorbent material to soak up some of the fuel and contain the diesel in the water.
Traffic was moving again in the area by mid-afternoon. No injuries were reported from the truck incident.
