Soldier Based at Fort Meade Dies in Afghanistan

FORT MEADE, Md. — The Pentagon says a soldier based at Fort Meade has died after a non-combat-related incident.

Twenty-two-year-old Spc. Hilda I. Clayton of Augusta, Ga., died Tuesday in Jalalabad, Afghanistan, after the incident in Qaraghahi, Afghanistan.

Clayton was assigned to the 55th Signal Company (Combat Camera), 21st Signal Brigade, Fort Meade.

The incident is under investigation.
