BALTIMORE — Baltimore police say a man fatally shot his wife and another woman left bound in a bedroom in his home chewed through ropes to escape.

Police called to the home early Saturday found the body of 37-year-old Karolina Derezinska-Szkiluk.

A second woman told police that 63-year-old Lukasz Szkiluk told her he wanted her to take care of some things while he visited Poland, then pulled out a gun and tied her to a bed.

She told police that heard his wife at the door, heard a pop, then Szkiluk showed her his wife’s body and tied her up again. After she slept a while, the woman chewed through the ropes to free herself and called police.

Szkiluk is charged with first- and second-degree murder, assault and weapons charges.
