LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — With the NBA free agency period having begun at midnight Monday, the Washington Wizards have eight players openly available on the market.

Chief among them is Jason Collins, who in April became a household name not for his on-court play but by becoming the first openly gay male athlete in major American sports, choosing to come out of the closet in a highly publicized self-penned Sports Illustrated article.

Trevor Ariza has already informed the franchise he plans on exercising his $7.7 million option to return next season.

Emeka Okafor has an early termination clause in his contract, but reportedly also plans on returning to Washington.

With Ariza and Okafor set to return, Washington’s top priority should be to re-sign forward Martell Webster.

Of the eight players, all but A.J. Price are unrestricted free agents.

Here is a look at the full crop of Wizards free agents.
