WASHINGTON (CBSDC) – Thousands of residents were without power for more than 24 hours after a heavy batch of thunderstorms hit the D.C. area late Friday afternoon.
Together, Dominion Power, Pepco, and BGE had to restore service to more than 25,000 residents in Maryland, D.C. and Virginia, for most of whom power should have been restored by Saturday morning.
As of 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, more than 1,100 Dominion customers were still without electricity, and a handful of Pepco and BGE customers were still in the dark.
Power is expected to be restored to remaining customers sometime Saturday.
