Deadly Two-Vehicle Crash Brings Traffic to One Lane on Dulles Greenway
WASHINGTON (CBSDDC) - A deadly accident involving a passenger vehicle and a loaded commercial bus has snarled traffic along the Dulles Greenway, and drivers are advised to find an alternate route.
Police responded to the crash at mile marker five on Route 267 around 3:20 p.m., where a car traveling westbound ran off the side of the road, crossed through the median and struck a bus carrying 52 passengers in the eastbound lanes.
Police say the driver of the car died at the scene, and two of its passengers were taken to a hospital. The severity of their injuries is unknown.
None of the passengers on board the bus were injured, and are currently awaiting pickup by another bus.
State police have an accident reconstruction team on the scene to assist with the ongoing investigation.
Only one eastbound lane is getting by.
