Body of Va. Man Found in Md. River

CALIFORNIA, Md. — The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office say the body of a man who went missing while fishing and swimming near Myrtle Point Park has been recovered.

Deputies say the body of 22-year-old Selvin A. Vasquez of Alexandria, Va., was found Sunday in the Patuxent River by fisherman.

Authorities say Vasquez was fishing and swimming with others after hours on Thursday near the park, but could not be found when the group was ready to leave. Natural Resources Police searched for Vasquez throughout the weekend.

His body was taken to the medical examiner’s office in Baltimore to determine the cause and manner of death.
