LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — A Frederick County woman is still missing after she left her home on the afternoon of June 19 to run errands and never returned.
WJZ-TV reports that hundreds turned out to a candlelight vigil held for 49-year-old Teresa Lentz in Frederick County’s Pine Cliff Park Sunday.
Police say Lentz’s family last saw her at their home on Bartonsville Road around noon Wednesday, and that she last spoke to her husband around 1:30 p.m. on her cell phone.
At approximately 9:47 that evening, Lentz’s daughter called 9-1-1 to report her missing. She told Emergency Communications that she had found her mother’s vehicle unoccupied on the shoulder of Reels Mill Road, along the railroad tracks. Some of Lentz’s personal items including her cell phone and vehicle keys were inside.
Frederick County Sheriff’s Deputies, assisted by the Maryland State Police, immediately began searching the area. The search continued throughout the night, but Lentz has not yet been located. Family members say they have no reason to believe that she would leave the area without making them aware.
Police have not officially said that foul play is involved, but they do consider the circumstances of her disappearance to be extremely suspicious.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Teresa Lentz or who saw Teresa Lentz or her vehicle Wednesday can contact police at 301-600-1046.
